Key values
Our aim is to provide Premium Ecuadorian Roses of the highest quality and freshness, whilst always being able to guarantee their ethical origin.
In everything we do, we always adhere to the values that are described by the Flower Label Program. Flowers and especially roses are a symbol for joy. The aim of the Flower Label Program is to make this joy sustainable and to share it with those who produce the flowers: Roses with the FLP label are produced in a way that cares for man and the environment. As a joint initiative of human rights organisations, trade unions, flower producers and flower retailers the Flower Label Program implements social and environmental standards in flower production. FLP certified farms must fulfill the following criteria: Living wages, freedom of association, non-discrimination, a ban on child labour and forced labour, health care, a ban on toxic pesticides, and responsible handling of natural resources. The FLP standard bases on the International Code for the production of cut flowers. The criteria of FLP are controlled by independent auditors. Human rights organisations and unions have the right to make spot checks.
Moreover, we fully offset our carbon footprint by running a reforestation program in the Ecuadorian Province of Chimborazo. In fact, we offset double the amount of CO2 we cause. The indigenous people of Chimborazo plant, grow and take care of the trees (currently approx 500 trees) that will transform approx 180-190k tones of CO2 into oxygen over the course of 5 years (2008-2013). Additionally, this gives the people of Chimborazo - most of whom only speak the native Quechua language, and thus have difficulties integrating into society - a task, and they are able to make a living from this program.
